t In recent years, as there has been increasing demand for video streaming services on the Internet, HTTP Adaptive Streaming is attracting attention as a technology to guarantee QoE (Quality of Experience). Existing quality control schemes have the problem of decreasing QoE caused by frequent and rapid variations in bandwidth, thereby increasing the number of unnecessary quality switching and increasing the range of quality changes. In this paper, we propose a buffer prediction-based video quality control method for improving the QoE of HTTP adaptive streaming. To minimize the number of unnecessary quality switching, the proposed scheme adjusts the buffer threshold to determine the buffer region for quality control. According to the buffer region determined in this way, the quality is adjusted based on the buffer prediction in order to reduce the range of the quality changes. Compared to the existing schemes, the experimental results show that the proposed scheme improved the QoE by minimizing the number of quality switching and reducing the range of quality changes.
